How do benchmarks and Inspiration help me?
Benchmarks show you posts that beat their own creator's normal results, Intelligence shows the numbers behind your own, and Inspiration is where you keep what is worth recreating.
What a benchmark actually is
A benchmark is another creator's account you have asked RunSignl to read. It is not a competitor list for its own sake — it is where evidence comes from when your own account does not have enough history yet.
RunSignl does not surface posts because they are big. It surfaces posts that beat their own creator's own average. That comparison controls for audience size, so a huge account's ordinary post never outranks a small account's breakout.
Nothing in RunSignl is a platform trend. It has no cross-platform trend data, so it never claims one. What it can tell you is that a specific post outperformed the account that published it, by how much, and what that post is made of.
Choosing benchmark accounts
You can name benchmark handles during setup, add them later in Settings, or let RunSignl help you find relevant creators. If you use the search, you review the direction before anything runs.
Benchmarks are accounts you want to study — not accounts you own.
A brand-new workspace with no benchmarks and no history is an honest empty state, not a broken one. RunSignl will say it has nothing to learn from yet rather than showing you someone else's numbers.
Inspiration
Inspiration is the board of reels worth recreating. Saving one starts work: each lane routes the reel to a different job.

- Study — why did this work?
- Sound — the audio, not the visual.
- Reference — filed for later, no work started.
Reels reach the board two ways: scouted, derived from the benchmark accounts RunSignl already reads, or added, by pasting an Instagram link.
There is no way to import your private Instagram saved collections, and there never will be. Reading them would mean signing in to Instagram on your behalf, which puts the account at risk. Pasting a link does the same job safely.
Where your own numbers live
Intelligence is the read on your own account: your post count, your averages, your top post, your momentum over the last 20 posts, and your format and theme mix. Every figure there is a real number from a post RunSignl read.
Two things are worth knowing before you rely on it:
- Nothing refreshes on its own. There is no schedule and no background sync. Your numbers stay exactly as they were until you press Refresh my numbers on Intelligence, or Refresh now in Settings. Each page shows when the last successful read happened.
- Change over time needs more than one read. Trends start accumulating once you have refreshed more than once. Follower count is a single snapshot — RunSignl keeps the latest figure, not a history — so there is no follower line to draw yet, and it says so rather than drawing one.
Every card on Intelligence can be opened to see how it was computed and to jump to the exact post behind it.
There is no separate analytics product inside RunSignl, and no reporting export. Intelligence is the honest read of what was scraped, not a dashboard of estimated or modelled metrics.
Adapt the pattern, do not copy the post
The point of a benchmark is the mechanism, not the material. A post that worked usually worked because of something structural — the first two seconds, the shape of the claim, the format, the thing it made a viewer want to check.
When you open a piece of evidence, look for:
- what the post is actually doing in its opening moments,
- what the comments tell you people took from it,
- and whether that mechanism survives being pointed at your subject.
If the mechanism only works with that creator's subject matter, it is not a pattern for you — it is their post. Pass on it.
Every block says where it came from
Inspiration labels the source of each block so you always know what you are reading:
- REAL DATA — scraped from a real post.
- DERIVED — computed from scraped data.
- DRAFTED — written for you.
Only a video breakdown can describe what happens inside a video, because that requires actually watching it. If a breakdown cannot run, RunSignl tells you why and generates nothing instead of guessing.
