How do I connect Instagram to RunSignl?
Connecting an Instagram account in Engage so replies and automations can act on it — what you authorise, what RunSignl never sees, and how to fix a connection that did not finish.
Two different things read your account
It helps to know which is which:
- Your monitored handle, set during setup, is the account RunSignl reads for numbers and evidence. It uses public data. It is not a login and it never posts.
- The Engage connection is what lets RunSignl act — reply to a comment, send a DM, run a keyword automation. This one requires you to authorise the account.
This article is about the second one.
Connecting an account
- Open Engage.
- Press Connect Instagram.
- Authorise on Instagram itself, then come back to RunSignl.
You authorise on Instagram's own screens. RunSignl never sees or stores your Instagram password.
When it succeeds, Engage shows the connected account by its own handle and marks it ready to automate. Until then, replies and automations stay switched off — nothing can act on an account that is not connected.
Who can connect
Only a workspace owner or editor can connect, reconnect or remove a connection. Viewers can see the status and nothing more.
If it did not finish
Engage shows a banner at the top with one obvious next step:
- "We're still finishing your connection" — this usually completes on its own. Give it a moment, then start again if it does not.
- "We couldn't finish connecting" — you cancelled, or Instagram refused. Press Try connecting Instagram again.
If the connection was rejected, Engage says which cause applies rather than a generic "try again later". Permission problems in particular are fixed on the platform where the account was authorised, not inside RunSignl.
Managing a connection
- Refresh accounts re-reads which accounts the connection can act on. Use it after you change permissions.
- Remove disconnects. Your automations stop being live, and Engage says so plainly instead of leaving them looking active.
What is not supported
Instagram is the only account RunSignl analyses today. TikTok and YouTube are not connected experiences — they appear as future platforms in some screens, and they connect nothing and analyse nothing.
